CRAPE MYRTLE -
Crape myrtle was first introduced to the U.S. from Asia in 1747. This species is now common all over the South. Crape myrtle develops into a small tree/large bush usually multi-stemmed with many long lasting summer blooms (60 to 120 days) which occur in clusters. Makes an excellent specimen tree with attractive bark and blooms. Prefers moist soil, but drought tolerance is good once it is established. Will attract aphids from other plants in your garden. Many commercial varieties are available.
